Elliott Elementary is an Award Winning School!
William F. Elliott Elementary was a 2020 California Distinguished School, and also earned this prestigious award in 2018, 2014, and 2006. Elliott was designated a California Gold Ribbon School in 2016 and a 2016 Title I Academic Achieving School Award winner.
In 2018 Elliott was awarded the California Distinguished School Award for growth on the 2017 California Dashboard. These honors are the product of our community's dedication to continuous improvement in student achievement and social-emotional support. In 2016, Elliott was awarded the California Gold Ribbon as well as the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award for our mathematics program and instruction. In 2014, Elliott was awarded the 2014 California Distinguished School Award and the Title I Academic Achieving School Award.
A California Distinguished School is an award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a selection process.
The Title I Academic Achievement Award is given to schools receiving federal Title I funds as authorized by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. To receive this distinction, the school must demonstrate that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California's academic content standards. Additionally, the school's socioeconomically disadvantaged students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them for two consecutive years.
The California Gold Ribbon Schools Award was created to honor public schools while the California Distinguished Schools Program is on hiatus as California continues its transition to new assessment and accountability systems.
